Behind the Scenes with Rothamsted Enterprises: Telling Stories That Make a Difference

At Yellow Lizard Media, some of our longest standing client relationships are built on creating content that educates, inspires, and makes a real impact. Our partnership with Rothamsted Research is a fantastic example of this. Over the years, we have worked together on a wide range of projects, helping communicate the incredible work taking place across their campus and beyond.

Based in Harpenden, Rothamsted Research is home to pioneering environmental research and innovation. Through our ongoing work as a video production company, we have helped showcase the organisations and people tackling some of the biggest environmental challenges facing the UK and beyond. Our latest behind the scenes video follows us across two weeks of filming as we capture another series of inspiring case studies.

Capturing Environmental Innovation

One of the main projects we produce for Rothamsted Research is a collection of case study videos featuring the organisations based on their campus.

These projects have taken us across England, filming both on the Rothamsted campus in Harpenden and at the tenants’ own facilities. We have documented an incredible variety of work, from soil research and crop enhancement to sustainable pest control and even innovative projects that transform cow waste into renewable fuel.

During this latest production, our videographer team spent two weeks interviewing tenants and capturing their products, laboratories, and scientific experiments in action. These videos demonstrate the real world impact of their research while providing valuable video marketing content that helps communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.

Creating Essential Health and Safety Content

Alongside promotional content, we have also produced a series of health and safety videos for Rothamsted Research.

These videos help new and existing tenants understand how to work safely across the campus, what is expected of them, and how to respond in different emergency situations. We have also created dedicated training videos that explain how to safely operate specialist equipment and technical machinery used throughout the site.

As a video production company, producing educational content like this allows us to create resources that remain valuable long after filming has finished.

Showcasing the Scale of the Campus

To help visitors and new tenants familiarise themselves with the site, we also created a complete campus walkthrough video.

Using a combination of ground based filming and aerial drone footage, we highlighted the scale of the Rothamsted campus while making it easy for people to understand how to navigate between the different buildings and facilities. These videos provide an engaging introduction for anyone visiting the campus for the first time.

Capturing Events and the Research Community

Rothamsted Research regularly hosts events that bring together tenants, stakeholders, researchers, and guests from across the industry.

Our videographer team has been there to capture these occasions, documenting keynote presentations, networking opportunities, and the collaborative atmosphere that makes Rothamsted such a unique place to work. By sitting down with the Chief Executive Officer and members of the wider team, we have created authentic conversations that explain the organisation’s purpose, its history, and its vision for the future. These videos put people at the centre of the story and help audiences understand the passion driving the research.
